AI keys

Your own AI provider keys, for every AI feature in ShareMaster

ShareMaster's AI features use your own account with an AI provider: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, or an Azure OpenAI resource of your own. You add each key once, in Settings → AI keys, and every AI feature uses it: the PnPjs Console's assistant and Query Builder's Build with AI today, and the features that come after them. Your provider bills you directly.

Reads only. Nothing in SharePoint is changed.

What it tells you

  • Where do I put my Anthropic, OpenAI or Azure OpenAI key?
  • Which provider and model does an AI feature use?
  • Is my key still working?
  • How do I take a key off this computer?

How to use it

  1. Add a key. Open Settings → AI keys, or click Add an AI key in a feature. Click Add key on a provider, paste the key and click Check key and save. ShareMaster makes one free request with it (it lists the models the key can use) and saves it only if the provider accepts it.
  2. Pick a model. Each provider keeps its own model. Anthropic's list shows each model's price. For OpenAI, Test lists the models your key can use, or type a model id. For Azure OpenAI, enter the resource's endpoint and the name of a chat model deployment.
  3. Choose the default. Every AI feature uses the default provider. The first key you add becomes the default; change it at the top of the page at any time.
  4. Test or remove. Test checks the saved key again. Remove deletes it from this computer after asking; AI features that use that provider then ask you to add a key again.

What you need

  • An API key from Anthropic (console.anthropic.com), OpenAI (platform.openai.com) or your Azure OpenAI resource's Keys and Endpoint page, with credit or billing set up at that provider.

What it will not do

  • A key is stored on this computer only, protected for your Windows account. Another Windows account, or a copy of your profile on another computer, cannot read it, so you add it again there.
  • A saved key is never shown again: you see only its last four characters. It is never written to a log, never sent in diagnostics, and never sent anywhere but its own provider.
  • Remove deletes the key from this computer; it does not cancel it at the provider. Revoke it there if it should never be used again.
  • Each AI feature tells you, once per provider, what it sends before it sends anything.
  • Costs shown in the app are estimates from list prices. Azure OpenAI's prices depend on your agreement, so for Azure only the tokens are shown.
  • PnPjs Console: The assistant that writes, explains and fixes scripts with your key.
  • Query Builder: Build with AI: describe the items you want and it fills the query.
