History
Every report you have produced
Every report this copy of ShareMaster has produced, whichever tile produced it. ShareMaster keeps its own copy of each workbook, so you can get one back even if you have lost track of where you originally saved it. Nothing is re-run and nothing contacts SharePoint.
What it tells you
- Which reports you have run, when, and against what scope.
- Where each workbook went, and a copy of it if the original has been moved or deleted.
How it runs
- Open History. No sign-in and no network. The files are local.
- Open or save one again. Save a fresh copy anywhere you like.
How it works
When a report run finishes, most reports write their workbook straight into ShareMaster's history folder on this computer, before you are asked where to save it. A few are added only when you save them. When you save a report, the same entry is updated with where you put it rather than a second entry being added, and a report never saved anywhere else is marked as the only copy.
Each entry records the report's name, what it was run over, when it ran, and its files. Opening one opens ShareMaster's copy, never your original, because the original may have been moved. Save a copy copies the kept files to a folder you choose. Forget deletes ShareMaster's copy and leaves anything you saved yourself alone.
History keeps the most recent 200 reports; beyond that the oldest are removed, and each removal is logged. An entry whose kept file has gone from disk stays listed and says the copy is missing. An entry whose record cannot be read is skipped and counted at the top of the page rather than emptying the list. The page shows how much disk space the history is using.
What you need
- Nothing. This page never contacts SharePoint.
What it will not do
- It re-opens old reports. It does not re-run them. A report from March holds March's data.
- The kept copies live on this machine and count against its disk. Settings can clear the lot.
- One history for every report, deliberately: the question is usually where that report went, not which tile made it.
